It contains easy-to-understand graphical illustrations of thatched roof houses and traditional artifacts on exhibition in Jeju Folklore Village Museum. Characteristics of tradition houses in mountain villages in the outskirts of deep corners of mountains or fishing villages in coastal area are explained along with folklore artifacts, traditional rituals and other cultural characteristics that set Jeju apart from other regions. The Museum published a note book for elementary school students named ‘To Better Understand Jeju’, which contains information of the ancient life of the island. The notebook also contains glimpses into the unique life of Jeju natives in ancient times in color pictures and illustrations to help students understand the cultural heritage of Jeju intuitively and leave their impression in texts and drawings. The notebook is of such an excellent quality which is good enough to serves as a textbook for on-site classes in elementary school.

Introducing an on-site textbook aiming at ages from 3rd graders to middle school students. This textbook features foods, clothes, shelters and life of ancient Jeju natives under the themes of school foods, clothes, shelters, production (farming, fishing, livestock raising), communication, religious belief and folk games. Jeju Folk Village Museum runs several in-house workshops for traditional handcraft items disappearing into oblivion these days. Visitors can observe how they are made and buy one on the spot.

Jeju Folk Village Museum offers interpretive program throughout the day by ‘Automatic Audio Guide System’ for visitors from Korea and elsewhere. The interpretive system provides in-depth explanations of houses, artifacts on exhibition in the museum and other traditional customs of Jeju Island. Visiting the museum provides an excellent self-guided experience which the visitor can do at the visitor’s own pace. The Audio Guide system automatically operates as visitors move to different area or house.
